Whew!

Coffee and biscotti
Homemade biscotti with French press coffee

Where the hell did the Summer go?! The kids in my neighborhood have already started back to school. It's odd to think that I'm done with school forever. But I guess that means that I survived the bar exam.

Can I confess something? I spent almost the entire Summer wishing it was Fall. Sad, I know. But the bar exam was really terrible. Actually, the exam wasn't so bad; it's the bar prep classes and the stress and anxiety that really got to me.

Now, I'm just laying back and trying to catch up on life. I'm doing things like knitting, cooking, reading the paper, watching TV. Geez, non-law student types live charmed lives!

I have some knitting to share with you, but the weather here has been gray and rainy this week so pictures will have to wait another day. For now, I'm just glad to be back among the living ('cause studying for the bar exam is really like a slow and painful death).

Let's get up to speed, k?

Graduation went well. I had one whole day off before I started my bar prep classes. Since then I've been spending three hours a day in class and then I spend the rest of the day studying and doing practice questions. It's like the ninth circle of Dante's Inferno. Here's your diploma; now go back to class.

But it's summer so things aren't all doom and gloom. My tomato plants are doing well. My herbs are thriving. I'm growing three types of mint so far - chocolate mint, orange mint, and peppermint. Mojitos are clearly in order.

I picked up my knitting needles recently and started my Something Red sweater just a couple days ago. I'm using the new Cotton-Ease. I've had it in my mind to make this sweater with Cotton-Ease for months now. It worked out well that Michael's had a sale on it this week. I'm hoping to finish it rather quickly because it's always good to have a light sweater in the summer for when the air conditioning gives me a chill.

I've also gained admission into Ravelry. I actually got my invite a couple weeks ago, but I didn't take the time to load any of my information until this week. I'm getting ready to set up a photo shoot for my stash. I wasn't sure what Ravelry was all about when I put my name on the list, but I have to admit that I think it's pretty amazing. It's a great way to see what other knitters are doing without a million searches on the discussion boards, Google, and Flickr - it's all in one spot now. Plus Ravelry will only get better once it's out of beta and everyone can join in.

I'M DONE!!!!

I turned in my last law school paper today! I graduate Saturday morning!

I don't even think it's really hit me yet. I can't wait to get back to knitting and talking with all of you. :-)

Le Sigh

I haven't cast on for a new project yet. I really should finish one of the many projects I have left sitting for so long. My Ribby Cardi only needs to have one sleeve finished and then the final details of seaming and putting in a zipper. But it's much more fun to start a new project. I may even knit another pair of socks. I'm into quick gratification lately.

Law school is winding down. I will be so glad when it is done. I passed the torch today for an organization I led this year. I've completed 3/4 of my bar exam application, which has been a major P.I.T.A.

One thing no one ever told me about law school was how distracting other students can be. There are many dominant personalities to deal with (or with which to deal - but that sounds pretentious doesn't it?). In particular, one person's passive aggressive bullshit just about put me over the edge today. I've dealt with his/her crap for the entire year and I've really had enough.

But then I think about some of the fabulous people I've met. My friends O and M have been a godsend. They never take things too seriously and have the wonderful ability to act like human beings, in spite of also being law students. We'll drink to this later tonight!

Geez, I hope no one considering law school is reading this! So discouraging. It's not all bad, I promise.

Happy Easter!

I decided to make good use of the Easter holiday by finishing my socks.

SKS Cable Seed Stitch 3

SKS Cable Seed Stitch 2

Pattern: 3 x 3 Cable with Moss Stitch from Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: 1 oversized skein (470 yds) Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Navy
Needles: Susan Bates' Silvalume DPNs Size 1
Recipient: Me
Notes: These socks fit perfectly. The yarn I used also gets a thumbs up. It's twisted tightly and did not split at all. The dense fabric I created feels like it will hold up for a long time. I would definitely use CTH again. Though I have to admit it's not as springy as Koigu.

Bloggy Notes:
I want to apologize for not responding to the many wonderful comments I've received in the past couple weeks. If you're a Blogger user, did you know that when you switch to new Blogger, your email address no longer shows up on your comments? This means that I can't reply to you from your comment. I suppose I could leave you a reciprocal comment on your blog, but I'd much prefer to send you a short note by email. Wouldn't this be better?

You can remedy this problem by editing your profile. Just click the box that says "Show my email address." This way people can hit reply to the email Blogger sends announcing your comment. Make sense?

I think I hit the Secret Pal jackpot

Look at these fantastic goodies my Knitty SP sent me last week. I know...last week - things have been hell at school. I know how you felt being busy with work SP. It's very wearing isn't it?

Anywho, imagine how much better I felt to know that someone across the country was thinking about me and my knitterly needs.

First, I read this adorable card. It has sheep on it. Aww, sweet don't you think?

SP Card

Then I opened this great sock yarn. It's a skein of On Linie Supersocke 100 - Highland Color. It's lovely. I'm glad the accent color is black because I recently ordered a pair of black mary jane Danskos that I think will coordinate quite well.

My Secret Pal is an artist of many talents people. She can paint:
SP Art
It's painted knitting!

And she can knit:
SP Scarf
Pattern from Knitty.com -- Argosy
This scarf is the perfect length for me - no small task when you're 6'0 tall.

Finally, no knitting is complete without a bit of chocolate. I firmly believe this and I'm sure you agree.
SP Chocolates

There were 4 big luscious chocolates, but I ate one immediately. Self-control is not one of my greatest strengths.

Thank you very much Secret Pal!

In knitting news:
I have made a fair amount of progress on my navy socks. I finished the first one quite some time ago and am almost to the heel on the second. Depending on my motivation, you may, or may not, see a picture soon.
