Ray LaMontagne - get to know him

Y'all may not realize what fantastic things come from the great state of Maine. Not only does my SP live in ME, but there's a great musician who calls Maine home as well.

You've heard of Ray LaMontagne by now right?....Um, did you say you hadn't heard of him? Ray LaMontagne - get to know him. You can hear a few of his songs here.

Ray

I've been a fan of his since sometime this summer. He has two albums out so far and his voice is really a treasure. I saw him in concert on Monday at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. It was one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time. Dare I say - Ray's show was better than Bob Dylan's. It was the first show I've seen at the Paramount and I'll definitely be going back. The sound was great. I even got to meet Ray and shake his hand! Law and I left the theatre by the alley and as we were walking I noticed one of the band members was standing outside smoking a cigarette and then I saw that Ray was there too. So I stopped and shook his hand and told him how much we enjoyed the show. He seems pretty shy so I didn't want to gush like an idiot - I think I managed not to be a creepy fan.

So this has been a pretty good week so far. First - saw Ray LaMontagne in concert. Second - found out I get to go to NY City for a week at the end of January. I was out of town last week to go to a regional appellate competition. My team made it to the finals. So even though we actually lost in the final round, we get to go to the national competition. Yipee!! My girlfriends on the team and I cannot wait to go shopping. I'm glad they are so much fun. We had a great time over the weekend together. Of course, it's pretty easy to have fun when you're winning.

Have a good Thanksgiving!! Hope you find time to do some knitting over the holiday. I know I'm hoping for the same for myself.

Thanks again SP!

While I was out of town, a great little package arrived from my SP. Look at what she sent! A postcard from her home state of Maine, real maple syrup, and a stuffed moose - all from Maine.

Two FOs in one week! Who knew!

Okay - so these didn't take much time to complete. But I'm counting on them to save my hands from freezing and falling off my arms while I'm at my office. You might remember my plan to knit a sweater to keep me warm. I'd still like to make that sweater. But in the meantime, these will have to do. My husband is such a smart ass. When he saw them, he asked me where I'd left my shopping cart. I'm no bag lady - I just want warm hands thank you very much!

Trellis is completed! Yea!

I actually finished this sweet little sweater on Monday, but I couldn't take pics in the daylight until this morning. I love how it turned out, even if it was more fiddly than I anticipated. Seaming this sweater took an inordinately long time. Without further blathering by me, here's my Trellis:

- Yarn: 1 1/2 skeins Cotton-Ease in Cherry Red
- Needles: size 7 straights
- Mods: None.
- What I learned: how to cable without a cable needle - it saves time, makes me feel like a real knitter
- Made for: I made this sweater for a friend's baby, who is due in just a couple weeks. She's expecting a boy so I think the red will be perfect for a handsome young boy.

Hey you! Go vote!

I Voted Today

I made it to the poll this morning just before 7:00am, when the polls opened here in Colorado. I really feel a sense of accomplishment having cast my ballot. I have restrained from sharing my political views on this blog, mainly because it's not really relevant to my knitting. But I want to encourage you all to vote today - no matter what your views are.

YOU MUST VOTE!! (no exceptions)

Belatey Updatey

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted. This week went by so quickly. Normally I'd say that was a good thing, but considering the amount of work I have to do, it's causing me to have a panic attack. Throughout my entire week I've been dreaming of being done with law school. Ahh, imagine working only 50 or 60 hours a week! What a vacation. So say a little prayer for me (and my husband) in hopes that I'll make it through the end of the semester without going completely CRAZY!!

Part of the reason I'm behind is the fact that my brother and SIL were in town last weekend with my niece. She is adorable! She is also a baby, which means she cries and makes it generally impossible for anyone to sleep. So I didn't get any work done last weekend as I was entertaining houseguests.

I've made very little progress on Trellis. I managed to sew up the side seams and knit the collar this week. Now all I have left is attaching the collar and attaching the sleeves. I'm hoping to get than done by the end of next week. I'll let you know how that turns out.
