First, a meme -

Gina tagged me for this meme, which I'm sure you've seen in the past couple weeks. It was tough deciding how much of my weirdness I should share. Also, there are likely things I could have listed but didn't because I didn't think they were weird (even though you certainly would find them odd).

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

1. I enjoy the sound of typing - I find it mesmerizing.

2. I brush and floss my teeth in the shower in the morning.

3. I don't have any wisdom teeth. I never had any. I like to tell myself that I am evolutionarily advanced because my body knew not to grow useless teeth.

4. Both of my dogs sleep in my bed - under the covers - but only under the comforter, not under the sheet (as if this makes me less weird).

5. I like to listen to this song to remind me that law school is ultimately very silly.

6. I hate to answer the phone. If you call me, there is a 99% chance I won't answer (this includes my cell phone).

I'm going to be lame and not tag anyone. You should post this meme though - it was fun to think about my quirks.

Second, a snow update -

We got 7.5 inches of snow yesterday. They had predicted another foot overnight, but it didn't materialize. All that hype over just over half a foot of snow. Of course, we still didn't get mail yesterday. UPS and FedEx appear to be running more than a week behind.

I'm so over snow I cannot even tell you. Did I mention how my car broke down at the Eisenhower Tunnel on Christmas? Yep. That was fun. My car is still waiting for repair in Silverthorne. Pray that the mechanic doesn't rip me off like the tow company did. Word to the wise - don't use Dillon Towing EVER. Somehow the bill doubled during the nine mile drive from the tunnel to Silverthorne.

Christmas wasn't a total bust though. At least the car broke down on the way home - after we'd spent the day at Vail doing some snowboarding.

Last, a knitting update -

I do have some knitting content to discuss, but I've been too lazy to take pictures. You know I'm a procrastinator so it might be a couple days.

And you thought I didn't knit anymore

Here's a little hat I whipped up for my niece the other day. It matches a long sleeve onesie I got her for Christmas. I snapped a pic of it before I wrapped it today. Hopefully I can get it in the mail on Tuesday. We still aren't receiving mail.

Before

We have a little tradition in our house. When we get a big snow, we let the dogs run outside off the leash. The dogs were so cute trying to jump through the snow like little bunnies.

Toby is a bigger fan of the snow than Abbey, but she got into the mix too.

Brrr! Why did dad have to spill snow on my head?

We spent 3 hours digging out our driveway. My car had gotten stuck on the street the night before and we wanted to pull it into the driveway before the plow came through.

Success!

I'm not sure why we thought this was urgent. There's a good chance they won't even plow our street until Saturday. I'm sure my taxes are being well spent in other areas...

White Christmas - Guaranteed!

I'm pretty sure we're going to have to stay home this Christmas. We were supposed to drive to Minneapolis on Friday. I have secretly been wishing we'd get stuck here. Now it looks like I may have gotten my wish. Should I feel just a bit guilty now? There is a possibility we could still make it out, but it's doubtful.

Here's how much snow we've received so far this morning - looks like a couple inches:

Front door

Here's the view down the street. They're telling us residential streets won't be plowed until there is at least 12" of snow. By the time that happens, we definitely won't be able to get the car out of the driveway.

I tried to snap a pic of Toby frolicking in the snow. Ha! He was moving so fast to get back inside I almost missed him completely.

You can do it - I promise you'll feel good after

I know you read Yarn Harlot's blog. So I'm assuming you've already made a donation to Doctors Without Borders. But just in case you haven't, here's a gentle nudge to make a difference this holiday season...

Holiday Meme In Lieu of Knitting Content

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I've been making egg nog lattes at home for a month - they are the best! But I don't like real egg nog - I only use the low fat fakey stuff

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrapped - I love to wrap gifts.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Colored on the tree - we don't put lights on the house

4. Do you hang mistletoe? I have before, but I haven't seen any at the market this year

5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually just after Thanksgiving, but we put things up a week late this year

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? My mom's dumpling stew

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: My family had a tradition of going bowling over Christmas. All of my aunts, uncles, and counsins would go together. It was a lot of fun.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I really don't remember.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We actually open all of our gifts on Christmas Eve. We look inside our stockings on Christmas Day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? This is an odd question. I hang ornaments on it - that's how I decorate it.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE IT!! In fact, it would be nice to get a blizzard the day we're supposed to leave town because we could say we got stuck here, ditch my family, and go snowboarding instead (I'm a rotten child)

12. Can you ice skate? Yes, but I haven't done it in years

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Yes, I loved a teddy bear my dad bought me. She had the most beautiful red velvet holiday dress. I named her Samantha.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? It used to be spending time with my family. But in the last few years my family has gotten increasingly weird/crazy. Now the most important thing is surviving the holidays with some sanity.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I love frosted sugar cookies.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Midnight mass at the Basilica is my favorite. The church is gorgeous at Christmas - it's magical.

17. What tops your tree? A crystal-like topper I picked up a Pottery Barn last year.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Both.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? This year it is Sarah McLaughlin's version of Toni Mitchell's "River"

20. Candy Canes? Yuck or Yum? I'm not a big fan.

Feels so much better now!

I survived another semester of school. Yesterday at 4:32 I turned in my final paper of the semester. The paper was due at 4:30, but of course the printer at school crapped out at 4:25 so I was 2 minutes late but whatever. I'm just glad it's over.

My husband is such a doll. When I came home yesterday, he had a dozen red roses, a box of chocolates, and a card waiting for me. It's entirely true that I would not have made it this far in school without him. He constantly supports me and keeps me from losing it (not an easy task, I assure you).

I'm looking forward to getting a bit of knitting done this week before we leave to be with family next weekend. I also plan to get a package in the mail to my downstream SP first thing on Monday. I'm excited about this package. I've really done my best to tailor my gift to her likes.
