Thrifty Finds

Mr. Tee and I enjoy browsing the local thrift shops for household items. He likes to look for computer-type things, while I'm more inclined to purchase linens and kitchen goods. Saturdays are especially good for thrifting because all things older than a week or so are 50% off.

Here are a few things I've found recently:

Pyrex Bowl Yellow
Yellow Pyrex Bowl

Pyrex Bowl Purple Dots
Purple Dot Pyrex Bowl (my fav find last weekend)

Marimekko Bedsheet
Twin Size Marimekko Bedsheet (I didn't even realize it was Marimekko until I was in the car - but it made sense that I liked it just for its timeless style.)

Knitter's Handbook
Reader's Digest Knitter's Handbook by Montse Stanley - Hardcover (Who doesn't need a copy of this book? I love that it's hardcover.)

Happy Tuesday!

Yarn Pr0n and Puppy Pr0n

I took the time to snap a few pictures this morning so I could bring you some yarn pr0n and some puppy pr0n too.

I bought this lone skein of Koigu for a song off DeStash a couple weeks ago. It looks like Spring to me. I love Koigu.

Here are some shots of Toby slowly waking up. Toby has been known to stay in bed until noon if I let him. He just loves being nestled under the warm covers. But when it's time to leave the house, he has to get out of the bed. Here's what it's like to gently coax him awake in the morning.

After I peel back the blanket a bit - Toby yawns

Toby opens his eyes and gives me the look - "Do I have to get up?"

FO and a WIP

Thanks for all of your kind words. I know it's just the usual anxiety about change, I just wish it would go away!

But enough about me, let's talk about the knitting.

Hand towel 1

Hand towel 2

As I said yesterday, I finished my hand towel last week. Then I washed and blocked it this weekend. It did soften up quite a bit. I feel ambivalent about this knit though. It's ok, but not fantastic. I think I'd rather buy a cute hand towel (or four, because the linen yarn's not so cheap), than knit another one. But it's done and I'll use it in my newly remodeled bathroom. I also plan to show you pics of the bathroom, but we still have to hang the mirror tonight and finish a little piece of art for the wall.

Cable sock WIP

I'm making slow but steady progress on my second pair of socks. Not too much to say about them at this point. I think I'm going to love them though. I'm using Cherry Tree Hill Supersock that I purchased after the New Year. This is a pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks - 3 x 3 Cable with Moss Stitch (page 68 of the book).

Thoughts

I've been a quiet blogger this past week, I know. But I've had a lot on my mind. Today I thought that if I rambled about it on my blog for it bit, I might feel better.

First, I finished the Moss Stitch Hand Towel from Mason-Dixon Knitting. Ignore all previous comments about errata. The errata is on the Chevron Stripe Hand Towel. I did think there may be errors in the Moss Stitch, but it turns out that the pattern is just difficult to see until you've knit a bit. I should have taken a pic this morning, but I got sidetracked reading blogs before work . I really should resolve not to do that anymore.

I also cast on for another pair of socks. I'm making a pair from Sensational Knitted Socks with cables. I may have picked too complicated a pattern however. It's not that I can't do them, it's just going to take me a very long time. Will I be patient enough to finish? Stay tuned...

But it's not knitting that is bothering me. I'm pretty sure it's the idea of graduating in just 65 days. My apathy towards school means that I am about 3 weeks behind with my work so far. I don't feel motivated to catch up any time soon. Then I think, oh well I'm graduating so who cares!? Still my Type A personality really wants me to take the time to do it right.

I also don't have a job lined up yet. I'm not sure if this is reason to panic. Part of me thinks it is, while the other part of me says that bar results don't even come until October so there must still be time to apply for a job. I'm still a little confused about how the whole process works and my school's career services office has been absolutely no help. They are eager to tell me that they do not do "job placement." Well ok, my $100K+ surely didn't buy me job placement. That'd be too much to ask right? So is there anything else you can help me with because other than finding a job, I'm not sure what purpose Career Services is supposed to serve.

Sigh. I feel better having typed this anyway. The sun is shining today and it's going to be warm so I suppose there's no real need to feel bad about things.

Pictures soon...
